Capitan Calaveras Bocadillos Inspired by Santiago of the Seas

I'm here, I'm here. I promise I'm still alive and staying a float. We've officially been doing remote learning for 3 weeks now, phew. What a whirlwind it has been between losing internet connection on some of the days while kids are in class, and making breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day. It's been very hard to come into my little corner of the internet, especially because my mornings are spent being on the computer with the kids. So when school is over all I want to do is disconnect. Which makes today super special because  I'm here to share one of our favorite shows to watch during mid-day break. Half an hour exactly to grab something to eat and disconnect from the computer has led us to watch, well at least jellybean and me, to watch Santiago of the Seas on Nickelodeon.

Santiago of the Seas

Santiago is an 8 year old pirate and along with his crew, which includes his cousin Tomas they embark on fun journeys on his ship El Bravo. Together they embark on hidden treasure adventures and making sure to keep the Caribbean high seas safe. Not only that but the show is infused with Spanish language and Latino Caribbean culture.

So far this has been a favorite to watch mid-day, it helps my daughter reinforce her Español and makes it fun to disconnect from school for a little bit.
My plan was to bake some cookies, and show you guys how fun that would be. Reality is that with the busy schedule that we are holding down right now, baking and waiting is not an option. So bocadillos it was.
P.S. Being hispanic I can personally tell you
that our breakfast and lunch will sometimes consist
of dishes that other people consider dinner.

First make sure to grab some fun sea inspired cookie cutters (these are from Amazon), next find an inspiration. Since we watch Santiago of the Seas during lunch break, I knew it had something to do with our almuerzo.
What is something that you can quickly put together in less than 5-10 minutes, depending on ingredients?

Pues bocadillos
In other words sandwiches!
All you have to do is grab your favorite ingredients, for us it's turkey and cheese with some lettuce or peanut butter and jelly. That's a quick 5-10 minutes, which means I only miss the intro song to Santiago of The Seas, and together as a family we can go on a quick aventura during our lunch time.

The other night I went the extra mile and did a quick fun seas inspired dinner for jellybean that involved an anchor and dinosaurs trying to eat it - lol

Quick and easy ideas to also help your child eat their lunch or dinner if they are picky eaters, trust me when I tell you that Jellybean is the pickiest eater, but having a fun lunch or dinner always motivates her to eat a little more.
Oh, and it also makes adult lunches fun, I might have sent husband with some fun shaped sandwiches to work the other day.

Make sure to check out Santiago of the Seas and escape to a magical sea adventure with Nickelodeons cutest new aventurero.

While you are enjoying a yummy lunch!

Wishing you all the best and I promise to be back this week, with some news on how life has been!

Cuídense mucho y hasta la proxima!

Love,
Kary xoxo
